Previously adresses the changes of state – from “before” to “after” – that entropy brings to our lives. Things we know are contrasted against things we are ignorant of – or of which we are afraid. Every day we leave the certain world behind, and enter the realm of the unknown.
Beauty is a Beast (natural forces)
Video Art Object by John Sanborn
Beauty is a Beast (natural forces) is one of 5 pieces about the definition and function of beauty today. Each work examines what is beautiful, naturally, intellectually, offsensively, defensively and as an abstraction. Beauty is a Beast (natural forces) asks, if beauty is the iùage of the infinite, what is its nature?
Galerie Claire Gastaud
Claire Gastaud gallery was founded in 1986. Since 1996, she is leaded by Claire Gastaud herself, assisted by Caroline Perrin, historian of Art.
The gallery stands out by his geographic location in the center of France, in Auvergne, and by his incredible exhibition places. Indeed, it is composed by 4 larges exhibitions rooms added to an underground space of 200m².
The gallery also has office in 19, rue des Filles du Calvaire in Paris 03.
Claire Gastaud gallery has built notoriety in staying faithful to his design: to present a selection of personalities of contemporary art while actively supporting young and emergent artists.
Enterprising major projects (exhibitions beyond the walls, work orders, support to in situ creations), the gallery wants to assist each of its artists in time.
The particularity of the Claire Gastaud gallery lie in its large consistency related to its requirement level, and paradoxically, to its eclecticism.
Rather than specialize in a specific wave, Claire Gastaud wanted that the gallery stays in resonance with the current world and interested in all the creations (old or new), in all the subjects and in all the modes of expression (paintings, photographs, movies, sculptures and installations).
Among of the most emblematic exhibitions, we can list, in the nineties : Dennis Oppenheim, Jacques de la Villeglé, Riopelle, Chu Teh Chun, Claude Viallat, Robert Combas, Rémi Blanchard, Philippe Favier, Erro.
In the 2000s to nowadays : Georges Rousse, Nils-Udo, Samuel Rousseau, Henri Cueco, Bertrand Gadenne, Antoine+Manuel, Roland Cognet, Anne Sophie Emard, Henni Alftan, Alain Josseau, Jean Charles Eustache.
Claire Gastaud was awarded the grade of Chevalier of the Arts and the Letters.
